What's in this case study

Florida-based Owen Electric used AI-powered conduit modeling, routing and coordination on three projects between January and March 2026, spanning an entertainment venue, a manufacturing facility, and a high-security fabrication building. Here's what you'll find inside.

- How Owen's VDC team redirected the reclaimed hours toward plan and spec review, submittal prep, and constructability checks; work that typically gets deprioritized under deadline pressure.
- How showing up to early coordination meetings with a populated electrical model changes the dynamic with other trades, and why electrical is usually last to that table without it.
- How five different team members across three project types with widely varying complexity all had successful first-generation runs, including one team member who took over a project mid-stream with limited prior experience.
- Why Owen's Director of Construction Technology is working toward modeling every job, and what full-model workflows mean for prefab and the field.

01

The Problem

GC expectations for model completeness have moved faster than VDC headcount can keep up with.

The largest GC partners now want every branch, every home run, every low-voltage pathway shown, with circuit numbers, wire sizes, and conductor quantities embedded from the start. Every conduit in the model. The gap between what a standard electrical model delivers and what top GC partners require is measurable in hours per project, and that gap has widened significantly in the past few years.

Owen Electric's VDC team is actively chasing bigger, more complex work including data centers and Space Coast projects, and every hour spent manually routing conduit and tab-selecting individual runs to enter circuit data is an hour not spent on more strategic and higher value project specifics. The team is already skilled. The manual workflow was the constraint.

02

The Solution

Augmenta Construction Platform (ACP) generates construction-ready electrical raceway models using AI-powered routing and coordination. It integrates directly into existing Revit workflows, handles clash avoidance automatically, and gives VDC teams full control over design decisions while automating the heavy lifting of conduit modeling, routing and multi-trade coordination.

Case Study

“My team is too smart to be spending all that time modeling. There is so much more they can be doing and that we want to do as a team.

This [Augmenta] just really takes the load off.”

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW

Frequently asked questions

Can we customize it to our standards?

Yes. You define spacing rules, support methods, clearances, and routing preferences. ACP learns your standards.

Does ACP work with Evolve, Excel, and SysQue?

Yes. ACP reads your existing conduit schedules, and exports native Revit elements that work with your downstream tools.

How accurate are the routes?

ACP generates clash-free routes that account for spacing rules, clearances, and code requirements. You still review and adjust—but you're starting from 90% complete, not 0%.

What if we're already using another tool?

We've worked with teams transitioning from other coordination platforms. The real question is: does your current tool do automated routing? If not, ACP fills that gap.

What's the learning curve?

Most VDC teams are running projects in ACP within two weeks. We provide hands-on training and don't leave until your team is comfortable.

Will this slow us down while we learn it?

No. Cloud processing means ACP runs in the background while your team keeps modeling. First project might take longer to set up. Second project is faster. By the third, you're ahead.
