Job Description

At Augmenta, we create software for the construction industry that fully automates the design of buildings - completely transforming the industry and empowering architects, engineers, contractors and developers. We’re a global team, headquartered in Toronto, Canada with a team of brilliant, kind and collaborative scientists, engineers and designers. We are spread across Canada, the US, and Italy, making our workplace a remote-first and distributed environment.

We’ve already built an incredible foundation, and now we need your help to accelerate our ability to develop and deploy our first product and deliver it to market.

The role

We’re looking for a Senior Scrum Master to join our team at Augmenta. You will own and be responsible for the Scrum practices. You will work closely with product and engineering leadership to understand prioritization, then foster a positive culture with the engineering team with a focus on continuous improvement while ensuring adherence to Scrum best practices.

This is a challenging role, working on a complex SaaS product for professionals in the construction design space. You will work with multiple interdisciplinary Scrum teams, some of whom have no formal training with Agile methodologies. Mentoring and empowering the squads will be a major starting point. You must be comfortable working in an environment with a complicated product requiring significant investment into R&D. This role reports to the VP of Engineering.

What you will do

  • Facilitate all scrum ceremonies, such as stand-ups, sprint planning, sprint end and retrospectives
  • Mentor four squads of engineers in Agile principles and best practices, giving team members understanding of their role within the squad and the framework(s) used
  • Identify any blockers or other obstacles that may be hindering the teams’ progress and address them as quickly as possible
  • Promote and advocate for Agile practices and adapt them to each individual squad
  • Track and monitor the teams’ progress and performance metrics, socializing those along with team status to stakeholders
  • Create and maintain detailed reports on the progress of the squad and individual team members to aid in long-term planning
  • Focus on continuous improvement, utilize squad Retrospectives to reflect on the performance of the past sprint and identify areas for improvement, take ownership and ensure action is taken
  • Act as a buffer between engineering and the rest of the organization, shielding the team from unnecessary external pressures
  • Collaborate closely with the Product team to understand the short and long term goals and to ensure that the backlog is in healthy shape
  • Create and foster a positive team environment, building trust and respect within each squad, champion and support open communication with constructive feedback

About you

  • Minimum 5 years experience as a PjM/Scrum Master
  • Scrum certified (SCSM) with strong knowledge of Agile methodologies and their best practices
  • Adept at time and productivity management, ensuring all scrum ceremonies remain productive and timely
  • Able to create detailed reports on the progress of the squad and individual squad members to be presented to upper management on a regular cadence
  • Excels at quickly building relationships and establishing trust with each squad and the rest of the organization
  • Exceptional time and priority management an absolute must
  • Positive attitude, ready for a challenge, eager to move quickly
  • An advocate for Agile practices and an excellent Agile coach
